Tri-girl Newbie
Mary “yahoo” Maher
One rainy day
A race was commencing
I watched with keen interest
An interest was sparked
Who are all these people?
Swimming, biking and running
The charge in the air
Was so enlightening
I knew right then
As I watched with excitement
One day that would be me
A part of such greatness
Nine months then slip by
The race is forgotten
Trials of hubby’s cancer
A race of its own
Then one warm spring day
I suddenly recall
The race I had witnessed
The one I had committed
Signed up without thinking
My fingers a-racing
Bike 25 miles, a lake swim
What WAS I thinking?!?
Off I go shopping
A bike, new outfits
A wetsuit to squeeze into
NOW what do I do….
This group I discover
Multi-sport Maddness
Sounds cool
Sounds enticing
5 Triathlons later
5k’s and some biking
A big duck as award
For a swim to my liking
My first year of racing
Logged into the books
Awaiting next year
For new races I’ll be facing
